One Body Unum Corpus " We have many members in one body Have, but all of those members As if they are not functioning the same, There are many of us, but Christ Each other as one body inside It will be delayed. " Rome 12,4-5 The official name of the Association is'Congregatio Benedictina S. Mariae Montis Oliveti'. For short, it is also called'Olivetano St. Benedictine'. Our association aims for contemplative life. By the time St. Bernardo Tolomei passed away, the Monte Olivetto Order continued to develop at the expense of the love of its founder, despite the great ordeal that 80 people, half of the brothers, died due to the outbreak of the plague at that time. And received great respect from the church. Thus, the size of the post-Bernardo Confederation was 303 in 22 monasteries in the 14th century, 914 in 53 monasteries in the 15th century, 1,044 in 76 monasteries in the 16th century, 940 in 82 monasteries in the 17th century, and 83 in the 18th century. There were even 2,000 monks in dog monasteries. As the years passed, this association gradually became international and included a variety of members, including monks and nuns, consecrated nuns, nuns, and lay consecrators of men and women. It celebrated its 700th anniversary in 2019, and now has a total dad in the Abbey of Monte Olivetto in Italy, and 25 male monasteries and 19 female communities are active in Italy, France, England, South Korea, Israel, Brazil, USA and Guatemala. There is. In Korea, the'Olibetano St. Benedicdo Goseong Abbey', which entered in 1988, and the'Busan Olivetano St. Benedicdo Sisters', which started with the dispatch of six Swiss nuns in 1931, belong to this association. 몬떼올리베또 대수도원 영상

  • St. Benedicto | Olivetano

St Benedict of Nursia St. Benedict was born around 480 in Nursia, Italy, and is well known for his Western religious father and patron saint of Europe, and his book The Water Rule. While studying in Rome as a young man, he becomes disillusioned with the confusion and indulgence of urban life and goes to the wilderness. The saints initially lived as a silver water in Enfidé, then settled in Subiyako, where they were supplied with food from another silver water, and practiced in a cave for three years. Later, when his fame became known, he was invited to become the head of the religious community at Vikovaro, but was threatened with murder for demanding strict rules from them. So I come back to Subiyako. After that, as his followers flocked like a cloud, Subiyako became the center of spirituality and learning. From this point on, Benedict began to change his life into a communal life. With the aim of a'abbey' life for fraternal unity and common liturgical life, that life is finally embodied in Monte Cassino. He then established 12 more monasteries and wrote , which will be the most important texts of Western religious life in the future. The saint ascended from Monte Cassino on March 21, 547. It is reported that he died in front of the church altar, wearing shoes and praying with his arms wide open. Several provinces have celebrated his feast on July 11 from the end of the 8th century, and on October 24, 1964, Pope Paul VI, together with St. Cirillo and Methodius, declared St. Benedictine as the patron saint of Europe. His symbols include a black monk, a rule book (book), a staff, a crow holding a bread, and a venomous (snake) chalice. The'Benedic Order' is a generic term for the congregations that follow his capital rules around the world and has the character of'Confederate'. The Benedictines scattered in each region do not have a subordination relationship with the Benedictines in any one region, but operate independently while observing all the Order of St. Benedictines equally. However, it distinguishes among the many Benedictines scattered around the world under the sub-concept of'Aquarius Congregation'. The first purpose of the Benedictine is to live in a thorough religious life through community life while staying in a certain place. However, depending on the needs of the local church, they also engage in various activities such as education, academics, and missionary activities. Among these are our Olivetano Association, Solem Association, Subiaco Association, Monte Cassino Association, Otilia Association, Camaldoli Association, Silvestro Association, and Ballumbrosa Association. (The Cistercians and the Umryul Cistercians do not belong to the Benedic City, but the Benedic also follows the rules of the capital.) And most of all, , written by a saint, has not only established itself as a cornerstone of Western religious life due to its wide adaptability, moderation, and discernment, but also has been used by many religious people from time to time to the present day. It has a profound effect. Bosch, a French bishop and theologian in the 17th century, clearly sees its characteristics as follows: "This rule is an outline of the Christian spirit, a comprehensive and mystical summary of the whole teaching of the gospel, a summary of all the teachings of the Holy Fathers, a summary of every admonition of perfection. In it, wise and simplicity, modesty and courage, and strictness. There is remarkable reconciliation, freedom and dependence, where there is no more rectification, no more humility, no more enchanting, no more decisive command, no less obedience, no more solemn silence, no more words. It is graceful and full of strength, while weakness is encouraging, yet St. Benedict says that it is only the beginning for those who are bound to obey this rule and always live with a holy fear. ." Jacques Veninue Bosch "'We have to wake up The time has already come to do it.' Did Inspired by the words of the Bible Let's get up." Introduction, 8 "Abandoning your will The true King, the Lord Christ Obedience to struggle for You who hold strong and fine weapons, I am now to you This is what I mean. Holy journey Holy Journey Part 1 Calling Part 2 God's House (Home) Part 2 God's House (Home) Part 1'Calling' (Calling) Part 2'Home' (God's House) “It's in the rules. I don't want this place to be any strict training space. I want to be a school of love. School to learn love.” “If we are happy, we can really pray, and if we are praying, we can be really happy.” “How can we die and live in heaven if we do not enjoy the joy of heaven when we are alive.” On Arirang TV's , the documentary of St. Benedic of Olivetano also produced and broadcasted as a two-part documentary. Benedicdo Abbey in Olivetano Castle in Goseong, Gyeongsangnam-do, is where James Papas Yoo Deok-hyun and 15 religious people live as a religious service. Founded in Italy in the 14th century by Saint Bernardo Tolomei, the Benedicdo Order of St. Olivetano first entered Korea in 1988 and built a monastery in Goseong. Farming in the mountains, this monastery hasn't used any pesticides for decades. Therefore, you can meet creatures living only in clean areas such as fireflies. Religious people aim for a loving settlement community that welcomes guests and praises God, working according to monk traditions in a wide ecological environment that is good for walking and meditating. The Benedicdo Abbey of St. Olivetano is also the only two abbeys in Korea, along with the Waegwan Benedicdo Monastery. Papas is the Korean word for abbot, originating from the religious in Eastern monasteries calling their leaders “abba,” meaning father, as spiritual mentors. Papas is the elected bishop's high-ranking clergyman, serving as a spiritual father and elder who leads the capital community. In the first part,'Calling', a daily life centered on prayer and labor, which religious people from different backgrounds call'Opus Dei', vividly unfolds. Pray and work. The motto of the Order is'Pray and work.' The day is filled with eight prayers, masses, and heavy labor from beginning with early morning prayer until the end of the prayer. In addition, according to the tradition of the Order, it is handed down the Gregorian chant that has been handed down for over 1500 years. Even during his busy day, he practiced in his spare time and preserves the beauty of the Gregorian chant. All kinds of colors. 15 religious people gathered through various lives! In the Monastery of St. Benedictine of Olivettano, the backgrounds of 15 criminals, including James Papas, Deok-Hyun Yoo, are diverse. Promising officers, theater actors, seafarers, national Taekwondo players, musicians who even lectured at university, etc. They said they didn't even dream of becoming a rhetoric, and they confess that they were called and came to the monastery. What was their calling? What do you think about the life they choose now? From the petitioner who has been in the monastery for six months to Papas, who has been in the monastery for more than 30 years, each one contains the sincere answers. Part 2'Home' is the story of God's house where people gathered under'Calling'. It is curious, but the general public shows the daily lives of the religious people in the unknown blockade. Secret containment area. The lives of religious people living in it! The Abbey of St. Benedicdo of Olivetano has made a step toward reaching the public by creating the first Catholic ``monastery stay'' program in accordance with the tradition of the Order to welcome guests. The monastery is divided into an area open to the general public and a containment area that only religious people can enter. In the second part Home, a containment area, which is a space for religious people to stay, and a room, which is a private space, are also open. For a monk, a room is a space to communicate with God, and even the same monks cannot go in and out of the room. Regarding their curiosity about the containment area, the monks say they are ordinary people and have nothing to hide. And it shows all of the daily life without hiding it. A monastery is a place to learn love, and what will their day to day look like as they say they live in a school of love? People who live ahead of heaven Field farming, orchards, raising native bees, and so on, are common lives that everyone has never done before coming to the monastery. However, the monks are happy despite the eight masses and prayers every day, and the labor that continues between them. I am so happy that I confess that I am sorry to my family and friends that I left outside. The daily life of the Abbey of St. Benedicdo of Olivetano, which breaks the concept that a monastery is a place of solemn, hard, and ascetic. In'Holy Journey', the lives of the monks who love more and that love overflow and flow into the world are the purpose of religious life.

"Nothing is more than God's work Don't put it ahead." 43,3 "With a grateful heart Psalms and hymns to God Sing a spiritual song." Colo 3,16 The rhythm of the life of the Benedictine monks is characterized by prayer and liturgy. The community meets in the church seven times a day for the most important liturgy, the Eucharist, and for the'Opus Dei', also called the'time liturgy'. In doing so, the rhythm of daily life begins with prayer, continues with prayer, and ends with prayer. The Water Rule encourages you to make this God's work of paramount importance in every moment of your day. In other words, it is giving the most important priority to prayer offered as a community. And the Benedictines use the Gregorian chant, a long tradition of monks, in their liturgy much more actively than in any other order. "I praise you seven times a day Because of your righteous laws. " Psalms 119,164

They... abandoned everything and followed Jesus. 'Luca 5.11' " I love you, The echo of our fame has reached you!" St. Bernardo Tolomei First, the vocational vocational officer communicates with the person in charge of the vocation outside for a certain period of time and has time to refine his mind about the vocation. During this period, through investigations in charge of the sanctuary, general information about religious life and our Saint Benedic of Olivetano will be provided. And actually, you will have a period of experiencing life in our water community. After joining the capital community and experiencing common life in this way, it is finally possible to identify whether or not you are enrolled. The decision to join will be made based on the opinions of the father monk, the investigation of the sanctuary, and the formation committee members. There is no age limit, and the decision is made taking into account all aspects of the LGBTQ. And, for example, the beginning of the year or the end of the year, there is no specific timing of enrollment, but the timing of enrollment is determined according to the vocational identification process of each LGBTQ. This initiation process basically follows-though not literally-Chapter 58 of St. Benedict's Capital Rules. For reference, the original text is written below. Sanctuary Inquiries: 010.5301 1319 58. About the procedure for the brothers' admission (1-16) When someone first comes to live a religious life, do not allow him to be admitted easily, but, as the apostle said, "I will try to see if his spirit is from God." Therefore, if the person who visited him constantly knocks on the door and endures the hardship of the hospitality and the enrollment he faces for up to four or five days, and his petition seems to be persistent, he will be admitted to him and will remain in the room for a few days. After that, they will be placed in the practitioners' rooms to study, eat, and sleep there. And he will send to them homeless brethren worthy of souls to take care of them with every care. And he will take care of whether the practitioner truly seeks God and is devoted to enduring God's work, obedience, and insults. He will also inform him in advance of all the difficulties and trials he will face in his approach to God. If he promises to persevere in his settlement, two months later read this rule book to him in turn, and say to him, “Behold, this is the law that you are willing to struggle under that direction, and if you can keep it, listen. Come, if you can't, leave freely.” If he is still there, he will lead him to the room of the practitioners mentioned above and test it again with all patience. And I'll read the rulebook to him to let him know what he has come in to do after six months have passed. If he's still there, he'll read the same rulebook again in four months. And if he commits himself to self-contemplation, obeying everything, and obeying all that he commands, then he will accept it into the community. What he should know at this time is that he cannot leave the monastery from that day as prescribed by the law of the rule book, and he cannot escape from the yoke of the rule, because he has been able to reject or accept this rule after so long deliberation.

"Nothing is more than Christ Don't consider it better. " 72, 11 The history of the monks' lives is long enough to go back to the 3rd century. But the driving force has always been from love for Jesus Christ. By pursuing the purity of heart and soul, the monks offer themselves to Christ, who fully presented themselves as sacrifices for the world and for mankind. In doing so, we achieve our own salvation and sanctification, and contribute to the salvation and sanctification of our neighbors. To fulfill the two greatest commandments: love for God and love for neighbor. “We want to embody through our lives the love of God, first of all, revealed in the weakness of the cross. ” Constitution 2 St. Bernardo Tolomei under the cross Monte Olivetto My Chapel of the Cross In addition, the monks of the Confederation of St. Mary of Monte Olivetto follow the founder St. Bernardo Tolomei to unite themselves with the love of God revealed in the weakness of the cross of Christ. And I have a special respect for the Blessed Virgin Mary, whom the saint devoted entirely to the Order. All of these goals are achieved by the brothers in the community as one body in Christ.
